Thin coat stucco AKA one coat stucco

Reggie,
This is in response to the question on thin coat stucco. I have tried using this thin coat stucco a couple of times. 3/8" grounds are recommended for this application. They don't work! Tried that once, wire lath was poking though the block-in coat, totally unacceptable. Went to 1/2" grounds instead. They were out far enough for us to get the wall relatively straight, but it is not a one coat system that way. Still a three coat system, but the block in coat is thinner. The material works very poor, we augmented it with type S masonry cement to richen it up. Has a lot of fibers in it and when it sets it is a tough resilient wall. I think this is a usable system in areas that you want to get away from a little quicker and have a little less mess, such as isolated gables and dormers. Thought you might like a little feed back on that.
